I spent over a year trying to figure it out. I spoke to accountants in multiple countries. I got conflicting advice from lawyers across three jurisdictions. I established companies in the wrong places. By the time I came out the other side, I'd paid tax I didn't need to pay — and lost time, revenue and mental bandwidth I'll never get back.

And when I finally got to the end of the process, I realised something that genuinely surprised me.

So I became that person.

Today I operate multiple seven-figure businesses across multiple jurisdictions, under the same kind of lawful, fully disclosed structure I help others build. And I've structured more than $1 billion of loans for business owners — work you can't do without an intimate, practical understanding of corporate structures, taxation systems, banks, regulation, compliance and the competing constraints every stakeholder brings to the table.

That background matters because of what it taught me: the hard part is never any single expert's answer. The hard part is that accountants, tax advisers, lawyers, company-service providers, banks, regulators, compliance teams and implementation partners each have their own rules, challenges, timelines and blind spots. Someone has to keep all of them aligned around one founder's desired life and commercial outcome. That's the actual job.

Earlier in my career, I built and ran a mortgage brokerage that facilitated over AUD $350 million in lending for business owners and investors, leading a 20-person, fully remote team. Even then, the value was never finding a loan — it was sitting between accountants, lawyers, banks and clients, translating complexity into a clear path forward.
